Lumia combines innovative coworking with inspiring event spaces and organisation in the green heart of Vienna. As a young and dynamic team, we are driven by the vision of positively shaping the future through conscious choices. Thanks to our consistently digital and modern approach, we operate as a paper-light, resource-efficient company. Additionally, we prioritize sustainable procurement across all our purchasing decisions, from office supplies to our daily coffee. 

Sustainability is at the core of what we do: we believe that mindfulness towards nature is an absolute minimum requirement, and taking responsibility—especially for future generations—is a vital part of that.

Founded on the Basis of a Green Environment

Our responsibility begins with the choice of our locations. Our Prisma event venue and Tribüne coworking space are located in a pioneering revitalised building with DGNB Gold certification. Similarly, the Loft by the Lake/Startup House—a building with historic roots that has been extensively and carefully renovated—reflects this spirit of sustainable architecture as well. Geothermal heating and ceiling cooling via thermally activated building systems, alongside an integrated energy sharing community, ensure innovative climate control that meets the highest sustainability standards. 

Our spaces are embedded in Europe’s first DGNB Platinum-certified urban district “Viertel Zwei”, setting new ecological standards: a car-free zone, excellent public transport connections, well-developed bike paths, and ample bicycle parking encourage our community and guests to travel in an eco-friendly, low-emission way. Nestled among idyllic water features and numerous trees, sustainability here comes to life through nature. 

Sustainability in Daily Event Operations

Following high demand for sustainable events—many of which have already been successfully hosted at our premises by external organisers—we are currently in the certification process for the Austrian Eco-label (UZ62) for “Green Meetings and Green Events”. We want to offer our clients more opportunities to host consciously sustainable events, fostering environmental awareness through direct, collaborative dialogue. To support this, we already work in close and regular cooperation with certified green event caterers from Vienna. 

Our rooms feature top-tier technical equipment that perfectly supports resource-saving, hybrid formats. During day-to-day event operations, we rely on a strict concept for waste reduction and recycling.

One particularly creative strategy for minimizing waste is our in-house culinary synergy: if there is leftover food from an event’s catering, it doesn’t go to waste immediately. Instead, the buffet is opened up to our “Housies” in the coworking area. This allows us to prevent food waste, foster community, and demonstrate every single day that modern business and ecological mindfulness go hand in hand at Lumia.
